Hint Help
Check out these hints for Math Compare groups; fewer or more .

How to determine in what group the number of items is greater and in what is less? To do this, have a look at the position of these two numbers. How are they located relatively to each other according to this row: 1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_10_11_12_13_14_15_16_17_18_19_20? The greater number in the line stands to the right of the smaller number. The smaller number in the line is placed to the left of the greater one. Remember these signs:

> - more (6>4)

< - fewer (7<9)

Detailed explanation for Math Compare groups; fewer or more

We already know how to count objects. But how can we figure out which group of items is greater? Sometimes it's easy to determine at first glance. For example, you can always say that a lot of candies are more than one candy. However, this is not always the case. The ability to count will help you to compare groups in which the number of items is more than one. To find out which group has more items, first count the number of items in one group. Then count the number of items in the other group. After that, compare the numbers that were obtained during the calculation. To do this, check this line and find out how these numbers are placed in comparison to each other: 1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_10_11_12_13_14_15_16_17_18_19_20. You will find the greater number in the line closer to the right of the smaller ones. Look, the number 9 is placed to the right of the number 7. This means that 9 is greater than 7. The smaller number in the row is placed to the left of the greater one. For example, 15 is to the left of 18. So we can say that 15 is less than 18.

You can use these comparison signs when recording the result:

> - more (9>7)

< - fewer (15<18)

The comparison signs look like the beak of a bird. Remember that the beak is opened towards a greater number. This will help you remember the signs > (more) and < (less).
