Identify which object is longer and which one is shorter.
Determine which shape is higher. Which one is lower?
Length is used to find out how far the edges of the object are. The boa has a long distance from the tail to its head, so it is long. A caterpillar is shorter than a boa because its edges are closer to each other.
To compare the length, line up objects. Then look at their edges. Which one is further than the other? This object is longer.
What is the height? It is the distance from the lowest point of the object to the highest one.
To compare the height of two objects, put them on the same level and check where the top points of the objects are. The top of a higher object will be above the top of a lower one.
