We may calculate the shapes that are randomly put. To find their amount, you can name each shape by a number starting from 1 to 10 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10). If you assign the final shape number 8, it means that you have eight shapes.
You are already skilled in counting from 1 to 5. There is a way to calculate shapes that are more than five. Firstly, you need to point at each shape and call it a number in sequence from 1 to 10. If you say 'seven' and shapes run out, therefore, their amount is seven. If you say 'ten' when pointing at the last shape, it means their total number is ten.
It is easy to lose count of randomly placed objects. You may be confused about which items you`ve already counted and which ones not. Therefore, you need a system. You may put the items that you've counted in another place or mark them. When calculating something on the computer screen, move the cursor from object to object, naming numbers from 1 to 10.
Have you ever tried to count the stars in the night sky? They are not in one row. However, you look at the sky and keep counting them from left to right. You remember that you`ve already counted the stars on the left, and you don't need to go back and count them again. If you know what the constellation looks like, you may easily count its stars and then move to another constellation.
Do not forget that we should count each item only once.
