Detailed explanation for Math Counting money; paper money

You already know various types of coins- penny, nickel, dime... In addition to coins, we also use notes, or bills. This is paper money. Here they are:

We may replace ten $1 bills with one $10 note.

How many notes will you pay for this toy?

You need four $10 bills and nine $1 notes. If you give a shop assistant $50, your change will be $1.

To find how many bills we have, firstly, we count all $50 notes, then $20 and $10 ones. After calculating all the high value notes, we can count small ones: $5 and $1. How many dollars are here?

There are $50, $20 and $10 bills. We add them up like tens: 50+20=70, 70+10=80.

Now, let’s count $5 and $1 bills. We can see only one $5 bill and five $1 notes on the left, let’s add up their value: 5+5=10. Thus, we get $10. If we add $10 to $80 that we have counted earlier, we will get $90.

It remains to count bills on the right. We can see there are 6 bills there. Let’s add them to the $90 that we have counted earlier. We get $90+$6=$96.
