Detailed explanation for Math Missing number on the number line; up to 10

How do we understand that something is missing? If there is not enough salt in the soup, it seems tasteless. Salt intensifies the natural taste of the products. When an employee does not come to work, his working place is empty. If the house has no window glasses, the wind will blow, and insects fly into it. It's cold and unsafe.

The lack of numbers in math is also very noticeable. If something is missing, then the order is broken. We know that the difference between nearby numbers is 1. If we skip one digit, the difference between these numbers will increase. The more numbers we omit, the greater the difference becomes.

One number is missing in the sequence 1_2_4_5_6. How do we detect which one? We add 1 to each number and check whether the result of the addition matches the number that we see in the sequence. Let's start:

1+1=2 - the result is the same as in the number line 1_2_4_5_6.

2+1=3 - there is no number 3 in the line. There is the number 4 after 2. It does not coincide with the sum. So, the number 3 is missing.

Let's check: 3+1=4. We can see this number after 2 in the given line. 3 is one greater than 2 and one less than 4. Put the number 3 in the line between 2 and 4: 1_2_3_4_5_6. It's all right now.

To fill in the gaps in the number line, use one of the following methods:

1. Find the known numbers on the ruler or the number line 1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_10. Determine what digit should be between them.

2. Try to remember which numbers are on the right and left of each number.

3. Learn the order of numbers from 1 to 10. It will help you find the missing numbers without the help of a ruler.

According to the same plan, find all the missing numbers.
