Detailed explanation for Math Sides and sections. 2D shapes within 3D shapes

You may see solid figures in front of you. Here is some advice, how you can find out which flat shapes look like the parts of the solid ones.

A sphere is a solid shape without corners, similar in shape to a circle.

If you look at a cone from above or below, you may notice that it is a solid shape that looks like a circle. If looked from the front, it has the shape of a triangle.

A cylinder is a solid figure without corners. There are circles at the top and bottom of this shape. When looking right at the cylinder, you may see it looks like a rectangle.

What is a cube? It is a solid shape, all sides of which are squares.

Learning about a prism, pay attention to the fact that this figure has two identical bases on top and bottom in the form of polygons. The side faces of the prism are called quadrilaterals.

A pyramid is a shape with a polygon at its base. Each side face of the pyramid is a triangle.
