A.M. denotes time from midnight to noon (from 0:00 to 12:00).
Р.М. denotes the period from noon to midnight (from 12:00 to 0:00).
You woke up at 8 o'clock. How can you show that you woke up in the morning and did not sleep all day long until the evening?
There are 24 hours in a day divided into two parts of 12 hours. These 12 hours are shown on the dial.
These parts are called a.m. and p.m. The first part lasts from midnight to noon and covers night and morning. We call this time a.m. Why? Because these are the first letters of the Latin phrase "ante meridiem", which translates as "before noon." Do not confuse "ante" with "after." "Ante," in this case, means "before."
The second part lasts from noon to midnight and covers day and night. This period is called p.m. These are also the first letters of the phrase "post meridiem", which means "afternoon," Well, at least this phrase makes sense, as “post” is quite similar to "past" and means "after."
There is a dark and light time during the morning and the evening. The sky can be light both at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. But if you woke up at 8 in the morning, is it a.m. or p.m.? It’s the time between midnight and noon, so it’s 8 a.m.
3 p.m. is it the day or night? “Past midday” means “afternoon”, so 3:00 p.m. denotes the daytime.
