Check out these hints for Math Width: narrow and wide .

What is the width? It is the result of measuring the object from left to right. Determine which of the items is wide and which is narrow?

Detailed explanation for Math Width: narrow and wide

We may measure the width of two objects. If an object has a small distance from the left edge to the right, this item is narrow. If the object has a large distance from one end to another, it is called wide.

To compare the width of items, attach the left end of one object to the left end of another. Now, look where the ends on the right sides are. If we see the right end of one object, it means this object is wider. If the edges match, the width of the items is the same.

The wider the object is, the more space it occupies. I'm sure you've ever walked down a narrow corridor. After all, there is so little space in it that it is absolutely impossible to swing your arms. Another thing is a wide tunnel. It has enough space to accommodate several people from wall to wall. By the way, it is a perfect way of measuring the width - place the same objects from the left edge to the right. You may measure the width of your bedroom using identical chairs. Put the chairs one to one from the left wall of the room to the right one. There should be no free space between the chairs. In this case, the number of all the chairs you used is equal to the width of your room. As an option, your room has a width of 9 chairs. If you determine the width of the kitchen in the same way, you will be able to say which of the rooms is narrower - the one that holds fewer chairs from one end to another.
