Use this set of math worksheets to help second, and third-graders practice column subtraction with regrouping. This technique will help students subtract multi-digit numbers much simpler.
What is subtraction with regrouping? It is the method used alongside the column subtraction and "borrow" tens and hundreds from the next column along. We apply subtraction with regrouping if the top number in the column is less than the bottom one. For example, 21-8. In this case, 1 is smaller than 8, so we need to take one ten from the next column and subtract 8 from 11: 11-8=3. How many tens are left in the next column? 1. We write it down and get 13.
Our worksheets provide several tasks on each page. Students need to subtract numbers and write down the answers.
Do you want to represent the activity as a game? Cut down the tasks along the dotted lines and put them in a box. Ask kids to pull over the cards and solve them. Children will love learning while having fun.
The worksheets are suitable for black-and-white and color printers. You can print these pages to give your students more opportunities to practice daily.
