As a starting activity, allow children to choose one sentence that is in the future. Recognizing the future tense verb form in a variety of contexts is an important skill that helps children later use the future tense correctly in spoken and written speech. In the next step of the activity, ask children to pay attention to the grammar form of the tense. Ask children if “will” changes depending on the subject or remains intact and if the verb after it alters or is unchanged. After this statistical analysis, you can write the pattern on the board: will + a verb in a dictionary form (an infinitive). Then, ask children to tell their classmates their plans for the future in a couple of sentences.
